I am Glenis and here is a little about me!
I’m a qualified Kitchen Designer and Lighting Designer currently working in retail.
I have a passion for helping people through the selections phase of building a New Home and Renovating.
I love taking the confusion and angst out of making your selections and helping my customers feel confident with their choices.
Family
I have five grown children and Eight grandchildren, and I love spending time with them and spoiling them.
I am very proud of them all as they travel their life’s journey with the partners they have chosen. I love watching a new generation growing up and becoming wonderful people with wonderful parents.
Where I am from, to Where I am now.
I was born in Scotland and came to Australia as an orphan when I was 13.
I met my husband, who is also from Scotland, and we have lived in different parts of Australia, including Melbourne, Perth, King Island, Tasmania, and now Queensland.
A life road travelled without parents to guide you has made me very resilient and sometimes to my detriment, self reliable.
But the passing of my husband of 40 years has made me realise how much we actually were very much a team.
And now I start a new phase where I actually do need to be self reliant.
What I have done and What I have learnt
After spending over 20 years raising our children and supporting my husband, I decided to retrain and become a qualified Interior Decorator/Kitchen Designer/Lighting Designer.
I have been so lucky that it has turned out to be something that I am good at and love.
Coming from a background of not even finishing High School (I was asked to not come back). to having a Certificate IV in Design, Certificate II in Small Business, Certificate III in Retail, Certificate IV in Retail Management, a Micro Credential with Bond University in Residential Lighting and am now an Associate of IESANZ.
All While being an Assistant Store Manager and then Lighting Designer for a major Australian Retailer.
Having now been with them for 9 nearly 10 years and I have been one of their top Sales Persons in my category for most of that time, I look back and think
‘You can never predict where your life might take you’
Over the years, I have worked in different areas, including Tiles and Flooring, Curtains and Upholstery, Kitchen Design and Lighting Design. Mostly working with Builders and Tradies to make sure we deliver on time with quality products.
Where to now?
Currently, I’m working as a Lighting Designer which I love.
I feel my experience and knowledge can be helpful to an audience out there.
